|Benni love attending the San Celina Mid-State Fair. This year she is escorting her Aunt Garnett around the fair when they stumble across the body of Cal, a cowboy, underneath a competition exhibit wrapped in a stolen African American quilt. There are racial overtones as Levi, has become the 1st African American to be appointed Fair Manager. It seems that the deceased cowboy was also the boyfriend of Levi's daughter Jazz. Benni is also concerned about the change in her Aunt Garnet's mood, why has she come to visit?
I did enjoy this novel, the growth of Aunt Garnet's character was good. The racial mood of the novel was well handled. The background of the fair was delightful.
